A reference taxonomy for the ways it could go wrong.
We catalogue the pathways by which AI could contribute to human extinction, each mapped to its nearest Library of Congress Subject Heading and ranked by current priority. Where no heading exists yet, we coin a working term and record it in the Glossary.
Method
Subject headings are drawn from the Library of Congress Subject Headings authority. Several AI-extinction concepts have no authorized heading, reflecting how fast the field moves; we map each to its nearest parent heading and publish a working term until the catalogue catches up. This page pairs with the LC Classification (the shelf order) and the Glossary (the new terms).
